<p>Driving through Staten Island we have noticed recently that a number of billboards have disappeared or are being dismanteled (the one pictured above is on Hylan Blvd, near Parkinson Ave). The same thing is happening in Brooklyn and Queens, with one billoard near BQE crying for attention by proclaiming that its loss will cost a loss of jobs and revenue. In 2010 the appeals court ruled in favor of New York City, to allow it to limit the number of billboards near parks and roadways. This is a polarizing issue, and while local residents are overwhelmingly in favor of less ads, the businesses feel that such restrictions are making it harder to legally promote their offerings to the public.</p>
